On September 06, 2025 the US Department of State announced changes to their Nonimmigrant Visa Interview Scheduling Procedures.
In the announcement, DOS clarified that applicants should apply for their appointment in their country of nationality or residence. Please note that this is a long standing policy that is simply being clarified. DOS noted that while interviews may still be scheduled at third country locations, there may be higher barriers to visa approval as well as longer wait times.
DOS also noted that for countries in which nonimmigrant visa appointments are not typically scheduled, citizens or residents of those countries should apply for interviews in designated alternate locations. Those locations, as specified by DOS in their announcement, are as follows:
