Temporary Residence Visa Programs

Temporary Residence Visa Programs

The Mexican government offers two temporary residence visa programs that enable foreign nationals to perform work-related activities in Mexico. The main difference between the two of them is that one of them allows the beneficiary to be in the payroll of the Mexican company and the other keeps the person in the foreign entity.
1. Temporary Residence Non-Remunerated Visa (AKA Digital Nomad Visa)
The visa for foreign nationals working in Mexico while remaining on their home country payroll. It is valid for one year and can be renewed for up to three years.
Key Considerations:
Requirements of the company, the beneficiary and corresponding dependents will be applicable.
2. Temporary Residence Remunerated Visa
This visa is for foreign nationals working in Mexico and being remunerated by a Mexican company (i.e., included in the Mexican company’s payroll). It is valid for one year and can be renewed for up to three years.
Some considerations regarding the process:
Requirements of the company, the beneficiary, and corresponding dependents will be applicable.
Other Residence Options:
  1. Temporary residence for investments in Mexico.
  2. Temporary residence for real estate acquisitions in Mexico.
  3. Temporary residence for financial solvency.
  4. Temporary residence family based.
  5. Temporary residence as a guest.
