The highly anticipated H-1B cap season for FY2026 is here! If you’re an employer looking to sponsor foreign talent or a skilled professional hoping to secure an H-1B visa, timing is everything. Here are the critical deadlines you need to mark on your calendar:
February 5, 2025 – USCIS announces the H-1B cap registration period. Get ready to submit your registrations!
March 7, 2025 (Noon ET) – H-1B cap registration opens. Employers must submit registrations during this window—first come, first served does NOT apply, but missing this deadline means waiting another year!
March 24, 2025 (Noon ET) – H-1B cap registration closes. No exceptions!
March 25–31, 2025 – USCIS selects registrations and notifies employers. If selected, the employer can file a full petition.
April 1, 2025 – H-1B petition filing period begins. Employers must submit complete H-1B petitions, including proof of specialty occupation and required fees.
June 30, 2025 – Cap petition filing deadline. Failure to file by this date means forfeiting the spot.
October 1, 2025 – Start of employment for selected and approved petitions! H-1B employees can begin working in the U.S.
Why It Matters
Missing the H-1B cap registration window means waiting another year to apply. Employers should plan ahead and gather necessary documentation to avoid delays or mistakes during the filing process.
