On July 30, 2024, USCIS announced that an additional random selection on properly submitted electronic registrations for the fiscal year 2025 H-1B Cap would be required to reach the FY 2025 regular cap numerical allocation.
As of August 5, 2024, USCIS has made the additional selections and notified the selected registrants. As stated in the July 30 announcement, the additional selection did not include advanced degree exemption (Master’s Cap) registrations, as USCIS has already received sufficient petitions as projected to meet the Masters Cap numerical allocation.
The deadline to file for the second round is November 7, 2024.
In the August 5 announcement, USCIS also included the following reminders:
- Petitions must be filed at the correct filing locations or online.
- A copy of the selection notice must be included in the petition.
- Registration selection only grants eligibility to file an H-1B cap-subject petition. Petitioners must still establish eligibility for petition approval.
- Petitions must include the new fees that went into effect on April 1, 2024. Petitions filed via Premium Processing must include the new fee, which went into effect on February 26, 2024.
- Petitions must include the 4/1/2024 edition of Form I-129, Petition for a Nonimmigrant Worker.
